A few years ago, we introduced MasterplannerOnline to Kentico 8.1 as a way to help them manage their site user experience. The plan was perfect and it was successful for a number of years. But when it came time to revisit the platform, now that we are in 2020, we decided it was time to remove the CMS.
At the time, we needed an easy to deploy technology for just their user experience. Content for MP was managed through a custom net backend. There was no need to integrate their content into Kentico as it was too large of a data architecture.
A content management system is just that. It helps you manage content. As MP does not leverage the cm portion of Kentico, there's no need for the extra overhead.
Why not upgrade to Kentico 12SP? The idea of upgrading implies clicking some options on a wizard and the site magically transforms. Sadly, there's nothing magical about the transformation from a Kentico webforms built website to a Kentico MVC website. It's a tear down and rebuild.
Kentico 12SP is a workhorse too. MP doesn't need a workhorse, instead it needs an easy to display interface. And that's where we are at. Stay tuned late August of 2020 as we push our updated/overhauled MP website out to the world without Kentico.
